Anastasiya Kostromina, widely known as AJDrumZ in the drumming community, is a dynamic NYC-based drummer, percussionist, and performer. Renowned for her versatility, she is
deeply immersed in the pop/rock, drumline, and musical theater worlds, consistently delivering
high-energy performances and fluidity across genres.
Currently a drummer on the Blue Man Group World Tour, Anastasiya takes on the role of the
"Rockstar," captivating audiences in Denmark, Mexico City, and throughout the United
Kingdom. In New York City, she serves as a substitute drummer for the role of Maria in the hit
Broadway musical SIX at the Lena Horne Theatre.
In the drumline world, Anastasiya plays the marching snare drum as a proud member of
BDEntertainment. Since 2022, she has brought her rhythmic power to the NY Giants G-Line
Drumline, energizing NFL crowds at MetLife Stadium.
Anastasiya has performed at iconic venues such as the Apollo Theater, Madison Square
Garden, Carnegie Hall, MetLife Stadium, Barclays Center, Brooklyn Museum, 54 Below,
Green Room 42, and SOB's. She has shared the stage with renowned artists, including Phish,
Laura Bell Bundy, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Kerry Butler, Orfeh, Arielle Jacobs, and Leslie
Odom Jr., as well as with bands like Melodica Band, eGalitarian Brass Band, Brass by the
Slice, The Brass Queens, and The Furies.
Her diverse performances include collaborations with entertainment agencies such as the
Brooklyn Nets Drumline, Drumline Live, Performance Paradigm (F.Y.R. Rhythm), and
BDEntertainment, showcasing her talents at prestigious events for American Airlines, Google,
PWC, and more. She has also performed at the prestigious HBO Documentary Films award
ceremony. Anastasiya's TV and media appearances include features in the NYC Kenzo and
H&M fashion show, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and the viral "Playn Drums with
Dave Natal" Power Ranger Drumline video, which has garnered over 2.4 million views on
YouTube.
In 2017, Anastasiya became the first female marching snare drum champion in the global Hit
Like a Girl Contest and has since showcased her talents at events such as PASIC. Alongside
her extensive performance career, she teaches percussion workshops in NYC public schools,
nurturing the next generation of drummers.
