Anastasiya Kostromina is a percussion artist, who specializes in marching snare drum and drum-set. She was born in Yekaterinburg, Russia; but raised in Brooklyn, NY. Anastasiya is a performer, a content creator, as well as an instructor/clinician.
Anastasiya started playing the drums at age nine in her school band. Fast forward, her passion took her to Fort Hamilton High School where she was first introduced to marching percussion, and Drumline. Her senior year, she took on the role of sectional leader of her drumline, symphonic band, and jazz band. Anastasiya took her talent to social media in 2015, and began to create videos, and pursued her dreams of being a professional drummer.
Anastasiya has worked with, and performed for various events, groups, and artists through the years. She has performed alongside Tom Tom Magazine event “Oral History of Female Drummer” at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. She performed with the official Drumline for the Brooklyn Nets, during the NBA season at the Barclays Center, in 2016 2017, and 2018. Anastasiya had the pleasure to perform alongside Drumline Live, at the Kenzo and H&M Fashion show. Anastasiya was awarded the 2017 Marching Percussion Champion for the international Hit Like A Girl competition. Shortly after she won the competition, she was invited to performed at the Hit Like A Girl 2017 and 2019 (PASIC) Percussive Arts Society’s International Convention showcase.
In 2017, Anastasiya joined the drum group FYR (Find Your Rhythm); under the supervision of Performance Paradigm. She has performed at corporate conferences for companies such as Google, American Airlines, Walmart, etc.
Anastasiya has been featured in various video projects, and campaigns. Including the Playn Drums with Dave Natal “Power Ranger Drumline Feature”. Anastasiya made a TV appearance with Brooklyn United drum-line on CBS on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver skit entitled “We Got Him”. Anastasiya created, and directed the very 1st all girls snare drum cypher video entitled “All Girls Slay.” She collaborated on 3 videos with Tom Tom Magazine on a series called 30-second Rhythms instructional drum videos for (reverb.com). Anastasiya made an appearance in the music video “Be My Organ” by Beacon. Anastasiya was casted as one of the drummers for the “Bring It” campaign with the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability (GreeNYC); in collaboration with Purpose creative agency. She plays in a rock band, and is the drummer for Matt Gumley.
